The Egg by Andy Weir

You were on your way home when you died.
It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.
And that’s when you met me.
“What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?”
“You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.
“There was a… a truck and it was skidding…”
“Yup,” I said.
“I… I died?”
“Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said.
You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. “What is this place?” You asked. “Is this the afterlife?”
“More or less,” I said.
“Are you god?” You asked.
“Yup,” I replied. “I’m God.”
“My kids… my wife,” you said.
“What about them?”
“Will they be all right?”
“That’s what I like to see,” I said. “You just died and your main concern is for your family. That’s good stuff right there.”
You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didn’t look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty. “Don’t worry,” I said. “They’ll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didn’t have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If it’s any consolation, she’ll feel very guilty for feeling relieved.”
“Oh,” you said. “So what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?”
“Neither,” I said. “You’ll be reincarnated.”
“Ah,” you said. “So the Hindus were right,”
“All religions are right in their own way,” I said. “Walk with me.” You followed along as we strode through the void. “Where are we going?”
“Nowhere in particular,” I said. “It’s just nice to walk while we talk.” “So what’s the point, then?” You asked. “When I get reborn, I’ll just be a blank slate, right? A baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won’t matter.”
“Not so!” I said. “You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don’t remember them right now.”
I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. “Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly imagine. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. It’s like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it’s hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you’ve gained all the experiences it had.
“You’ve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven’t stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, you’d start remembering everything. But there’s no point to doing that between each life.”
“How many times have I been reincarnated, then?”
“Oh lots. Lots and lots. An in to lots of different lives.” I said. “This time around, you’ll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD.”
“Wait, what?” You stammered. “You’re sending me back in time?”
“Well, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I come from.”
“Where you come from?” You said.
“Oh sure,” I explained “I come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know you’ll want to know what it’s like there, but honestly you wouldn’t understand.”
“Oh,” you said, a little let down. “But wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point.”
“Sure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you don’t even know it’s happening.”
“So what’s the point of it all?”
“Seriously?” I asked. “Seriously? You’re asking me for the meaning of life? Isn’t that a little stereotypical?”
“Well it’s a reasonable question,” you persisted.
I looked you in the eye. “The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature.”
“You mean mankind? You want us to mature?”
“No, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect.” “Just me? What about everyone else?”
“There is no one else,” I said. “In this universe, there’s just you and me.”
You stared blankly at me. “But all the people on earth…”
“All you. Different incarnations of you.”
“Wait. I’m everyone!?”
“Now you’re getting it,” I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back. “I’m every human being who ever lived?”
“Or who will ever live, yes.”
“I’m Abraham Lincoln?”
“And you’re John Wilkes Booth, too,” I added.
“I’m Hitler?” You said, appalled.
“And you’re the millions he killed.”
“I’m Jesus?”
“And you’re everyone who followed him.”
You fell silent.
“Every time you victimized someone,” I said, “you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.”
You thought for a long time.
“Why?” You asked me. “Why do all this?”
“Because someday, you will become like me. Because that’s what you are. You’re one of my kind. You’re my child.”
“Whoa,” you said, incredulous. “You mean I’m a god?”
“No. Not yet. You’re a fetus. You’re still growing. Once you’ve lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born.”
“So the whole universe,” you said, “it’s just…”
“An egg.” I answered. “Now it’s time for you to move on to your next life.”
And I sent you on your way.

What Do You See?

"Change the way you think and change your world."

This quote is true on so many levels. If you consistently see yourself as a "loser" or any other negative image, you will never look at yourself as a positive influence, or in any positive light. It will also weaken you and make you easier to control. EX: If you see yourself as ugly, and you're told that using a product, regardless of how bad it is for you, will make you pretty, you will use that product without consciously thinking about it. This goes with your life and dreams and goals too. Maybe we think we just can't do better than where we are? But, maybe if we thought we could, we would.

Do you ever look at people and wonder when they settled? Surely at some point they had a dream and a goal. At what point did they get "stuck" in a job they didn't want to do? Why did they stop chasing those dreams? And if they stopped doing that, why would YOU take their advice? Would you take relationship advice from someone who has a terrible marriage? I'd hope not.

It seems like every single time I meet someone, they are insecure about something. Which is understandable given western culture and how media etc. make you feel. Feelings let us know what we are thinking. Can you imagine how many times a person has been shot down or made fun of because of a small, cute little quirk that they have that when they do it around you, they apologize for it? They apologize for being themselves instead of embracing who they are.

I have heard many times the power of looking in the mirror and imagine the type of person we want to see staring back. If you look in the mirror and the first thing you notice is what is wrong with you, or what you haven't done or any negative emotion, maybe it's time to change the way you think. It is NEVER too late to change your life. Sometimes that means really taking a good look at yourself and sometimes making sacrifices, sometimes big ones. If you are not happy with who you have looking back, and you're not where you want to be, what do you need to do to get there? Imagine the person you want to be and be honest with what you want, not what other people think you should want. Who would you be? What would you do? If you write it out, and say it every day, twice a day until you believe it....what do you think is going to happen? You've been hating on yourself for years and it hasn't worked. Try loving yourself and see what happens.

When you first start this exercise, you're going to have a lot of negative self doubt and self talk in your subconscious if that is how you have always thought. But, if you start feeding yourself positive and create a positive self image and fill your head with positive emotions, you will start seeing yourself in a positive way, start thinking positive, retrain your brain to notice positive things, gain confidence, strength, power and positive things will happen in your life.

Every successful person on this planet has said this. It is not a secret.
"Change the way you think and change your world."

Everything Happens for a Reason

I guess when it comes to death, everyone has their own opinion on what happens. It's hard to really tell what really happens after you die, unless you can somehow come back to life 1 weeks later to tell us. Some people say you enter a dream state before you die when they have a near death experience. Like taking a strong hit of DMT. Maybe that's what death is? A continuous dream? Maybe our whole life is a dream and when we die we wake up?

I believe that when you die, you change worlds. You get re-incarnated to the next "level" if you fulfill your mission in this life.Or maybe, life is like a video game where you get to "continue" (like waking up from a coma) or "start over", (get re-born into the same or different family) if your mission is not up yet.

What mission?? You know how they say "Everything happens for a reason" or how you when you meet someone, they either change your life, or you change theirs? I believe souls are placed here in this universe on this mission (no matter where you are in this solar system, or planet) to learn something. To learn a lesson of some kind so that you can become a complete spirit. A god, in some way but not a god the way we think of God. Something much bigger than that. Infinite.

I believe young souls are the inexperienced, reckless, and silly. Excited to be in a body but not really caring about the mission at hand until they get so tired of starting over (being re-incarnated) into the same life form that they start paying better attention.(Maybe I was so fascinated being in a human body that I took someone else's life and learned how precious a body was and thus, haven't murdered since being re-incarnated). Maybe the human incarnation is just too much too fast for some souls. Have you ever hear of the term "old soul"? The experienced ones. The ones who just know things, especially if they are not physically old because of experience in past lives in the same incarnation. Their souls just haven't fulfilled their mission yet to move onto their next life in a different galaxy. Maybe our mission in this world is to become aware of ourselves and our own spirits.

Why do young kids get cancer? Maybe because in that life all they had to do was teach another soul gratitude or some kind of lesson and they were able to do it before adulthood. Maybe it was because they learned what they needed to learn and the universe was calling them back to move onto a different life. Maybe some levels are easier than others for some souls.

Soul Mates: Do you ever feel like you just click with someone? You've never met before but you feel like you've met before. Maybe you're just on the same level. Learning things at the same time and often bump into each other making the journey seem less lonely. Some believe soul mates are supposed to shake your world and teach you something about yourself. Some believe it's just a companion that you keep running into in life after life and are just continuously attracting each other's energy in each life you experience. Or maybe they were your love in a past life but you both died in a plane crash and had to be re-born, start over and now you're meeting each other again to continue your journey together because you're supposed to learn what real love is but you never got the chance to finish that mission.

Does this make losing a soul easy for anyone? No. It's never easy losing a soul that we love. Especially when they move onto the next world without you. But maybe in a past life, you left without them. I guess if two people are really soul mates, you will find each other again in the next level or maybe a familiar soul in a different world or galaxy?

This is supposed to sound comforting. Knowing that everyone has a mission, some might just figure it out sooner than you do and thus be taken at a younger age. Maybe them being taken at a young age is supposed to teach you something. Maybe everything does happen for a reason.

A Promise to Myself

I promise...

I will make it. I will do what I need to do to reach any and all of my goals. I promise to do what it takes to stay strong mentally, and healthy and if I find myself falling back into old habits I know I have the power within myself to be happy if I really want to be if I just reach deep inside myself and remember who I really am and what I really want.

I promise to not waste this life. I am so thankful to be who I am and to have grown up with a family who loves and supports me and doesn't think I am unsuccessful for not following the status quo and wants me to be nothing more than happy. I am truly blessed have been born healthy, free of disease, free of physical and mental disabilities or handicaps in a country that allows its citizens to be almost anything we want to be and give us such amazing opportunity to travel and work in different countries and offer free health insurance and coverage when we travel. I feel like if I don't take advantage of these freedoms given to me, I am wasting it. I do not know who's life (other than my own) that I will change by following my dreams and thus settling for average is selfish. Someone may need me to succeed, for only I can inspire them.

I truly cannot say I have ever had so much hope for the future. I am so excited and eager and willing to learn and hungry to grow and become better. I truly feel a huge shift in my thinking and my life and my passion. I crave adventure. I can feel energy pulling me in the direction of my dreams. I am terrified in so many ways but so excited for what is to come because I know somehow, everything will work out.

I promise to chase my dreams. I promise to not let status quo, average, materialistic items and fear distract me and remember exactly what it is that I want and to do what it takes to get there. I know there's still things I need to work on, but one step at a time, I know I will get there!

Keep dreaming little dreamer. We all have a past. We all have hurt, the sooner we let it go, the sooner we can get back on track to where we need to be to find ultimate happiness. Be thankful for the time you have, take advantage if it. Believe. Succeed.

Positive Vibrations & Law of Attraction

Everything in the universe is made up of energy frequencies.

I've heard this so many times; the "power of positive thinking", "It's all about attitude", "You are what you think about", "Watch your thoughts, they become your words, words become actions, actions become habits, habits become character, character becomes destiny.", "How successful people think". I've read it in many books and scientists have proven how each thought triggers an emotion which is the root of all things. Emotions let us know what we are thinking.

I recently read a book called "Emotional Intelligence" by Donald Goleman in hopes to learn more about the subject on how to control those emotions (and if I can do that, I can control my thoughts) to lead to more positive reactions and thus, positive results. It talked about this theory and at what stages in life we learn which emotions such as, empathy, why some people lack empathy, and how everything in life is a matter of whether you understand emotions in other people or not. You can read all the books in the world and be an incredibly book smart but if you cannot read emotions and understand emotions in others you will not be successful because everything in life is a result on how you feel and what you think and if you can learn to control this, you can be and will be successful.

After reading this book I was recommended a booked called "Anatomy of a Spirit" by Caroline Myss which was a great insight into the 7 chakra's and the spirit's power over the physical world and that by taking control of your life and doing what feels right can produce amazing results that transform your life. Your body is made entirely of cells. When you have a negative thought, it's been proven to trigger a negative energy frequency that effects your body in a negative way. Everyone knows it's important to eat healthy and take care of your body (and of course that is part of first chakra - our basic needs.) Everyone also knows that when you take care of your basic needs, you feel good. When you feel good, you trigger positive frequencies which bring you a positive life.

You become what you eat; you become what you listen to; you become what you fill your head with; you become what you feel. If you fill your mind with average thoughts, average things, average people, you will have an average life. If you want a life full of adventure, you will have it. If you focus on positive things, you will get positive things. No matter who you are, where you come from and what has happened to you in the past. I'm sure you've heard "I am not what happened to me, I am who I chose to become" before? The truth is, we all have a past. Bad things have happened to all of us, but if we sit there and dwell on these things, we will never become better. We will simply attract those negative things in our life because that's what we think and feel we always were and always will be. But that's just who you were, not who you are and only you can change that.

This is why I emphasize dreaming and believing. You have to keep dreaming big things and believe that somehow, it will all work out, with all your heart and it will. Your faith must be bigger than your fear and you have to trust the signs. You don't need to see the whole staircase just take a step. Everyone that ever wanted anything had no idea how they were going to get there. But they had the courage to dream it and were shown a way.

The trick: Don't concentrate on what you don't want. ex: "I don't want pain" because you will get it (because that's what you are focused on). Focus on complete tranquility and tranquility will come into your life. If you want love, focus and believe in love so much and love will come to you. Be thankful for what you do have and don't focus on what you don't have. If you want something bigger, dream it, believe it and achieve it but don't dwell on not having something as that creates negative energy that will deflect your dream and you will get exactly what you already have.

Think and feel positive and positive things will come to you. Pay attention to how you feel because that will tell you how you think. Pay attention to the signs and be brave enough to follow them. You are not what happened to you, you are who you chose to become. Be thankful. Dream big, live free, have faith, change your life.
